Steer, 2026
In 1954, the renowned industrial designers (and brothers) Achille Castiglioni and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed a stool using a tractor seat in a playful ode to Italian farmers. Manufactured from 1971, it became an iconic design that remains in production today. Hin’s Steer chair seems to take a leaf out of the brothers’ book, using ready-mades to create sculptural furniture from three sets of bicycle handlebars. By setting ordinarily moving parts into fixed forms, Hin says he is interested in ‘how everyday objects can be reconfigured into new modes of sitting’.
